Mortality Attibutable to Tobacco

In 2009, WHO published «Global Heakth Risks: Mortality and burden of disaseatttributable to selected major risks». This report builds on the global estimates provided in that report and provides information by country on the proportion of adult (age 30 years and above) deaths atributable to tobacco by major communicable and non-communicable causes by age and sex. although the report providesdata to 80 years and over, the age groups 30-44, 45-59, 60-69, together withthe summary totalwill be of particular interest to most low and middle income countries whilist many high income countries, especially those whit a relatively aging population may also want examine changes in the higher age groups (70 and above).

The report contains country especific estimates including death rates atributtable to tobacco (per 100,000) and proportion of deaths attributable to tabacco (%). The estimates are organized by global, WHO regions ando countries (in Alphabetical order). Some countries are not included – the most commonreason being that the data for some of these were still under review at the time of printing.
